Economic weight of the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization

Today and tomorrow, a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be held in Samarkand, and the summit will be held in person for the first time in 3 years.

It is expected that a number of issues will be discussed at the summit, including those related to strengthening the organization’s ability to ensure security and stability and strengthening economic ties, as well as issues related to the development of transport infrastructure.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a Eurasian international organization in the field of politics, economics and security. Founded on June 15, 2001 in Shanghai, it includes Russia, China, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Today, Iran signed a memorandum of accession to the organization, thus, Iran became the ninth member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
