A number of members of the US House of Representatives demanded clarification from the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Christopher Ray, on suspicions of using a government aircraft for personal purposes.
And in a letter to a number of Republican members of the House of Representatives, it said: “In light of a recent New York Post report that you are leaving a Senate hearing early to board an FBI plane for personal leave. , we have questions about whether taxpayer resource compensation is required for private use of government aircraft.”
Council members cited a number of such incidents, including Ray using one of his office’s counterterrorism aircraft to travel to his summer residence in Saranac Lake, New York.
Ray made similar trips June 2-5, according to information provided by lawmakers.
The lawmakers stressed that the costs must be reimbursed, although some federal officials are allowed to use government aircraft for personal or political purposes.
Representatives demanded that by August 29, the FBI director submit documents confirming that he paid compensation to the financial department of his department for his trips.
