DC Considers Asher Angel as the New Superman, Replacing Henry Cavill

Now that James Gunn is in charge of the future of the DC Extended Universe, many changes are happening in both current and future titles. In this new phase, many of DC’s most famous heroes will have their stories and actors’ roles wholly changed. According to a recent Instagram post, one fan thinks that Shazam could be a good option for Henry Cavill’s Superman in the future. Asher Angel plays Zeus in Fury of the Gods.

The picture comes from Instagram user @akithefull, whose page has concept art for several TV and movie series, such as The Mandalorian, The Walking Dead, and Daredevil: Born Again. “Asher Angel as the New DCU Superman.” says the caption for the concept picture. Even though it’s just a concept picture, it’s an exciting piece of art that shows Superman as younger and more outgoing than Henry Cavill’s version.

This version of Superman resembles the one played by Henry Cavill. He wears the standard blue spandex, red cape, and Superman logo on the chest. In it, Asher Angel has a boyish smirk and medium-length hair with a quiff, just like many famous pictures of the character. It has a blue and red space background that ties into the character’s beginnings in space.

Asher Angel is already well-known in the DC Extended Universe because he plays Billy Batson, the young version of the character Shazam! He played Batson in both the first Shazam! The movie came out in 2019, and it is second, which came out in 2023. The anger of the gods. Even though it’s unlikely that DC would replace Henry Cavill as Superman with a star who has played a significant part in a recent DC movie, many things could happen.

Henry Cavill has been playing Superman since 2013. His version of Superman first appeared in 2013’s Man of Steel and has since been seen in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and in an unnamed cameo in the after-credits scene of Black Adam. Henry Cavill is probably the best Superman for current audiences, but James Gunn’s new take on the hero could soon change that.

Gunn recently said he is writing a new movie called “Superman: Legacy.” This movie will be about a younger version of Clark Kent. The film is set to come out on July 11, 2025, but the character will be younger than the one played by Henry Cavill. This means DC is looking for a new actor to play DC’s most famous hero.

One interesting fact about Henry Cavill’s Superman might have something to do with the new trailer for The Flash. In the film starring Ezra Miller that will come out on June 16, 2023, actress Sasha Calle plays a version of Supergirl that looks more like Lara-Lane Kent’s version of the superhero than the more familiar (and generally blonde) Kara Zor-El. This is important because Lara-Lane Kent is Clark Kent’s daughter. Supergirl and Henry Cavill’s Superman could have the same father-daughter relationship in this movie.

The Supergirl in the movie won’t be the same as the one in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which comes out next year. This could tell us a lot about how DC will handle adding a new Superman in the future. There is a good chance the movie will set up an alternate world timeline for DC. For example, a different actor could play Henry Cavill’s Superman in different circumstances.
