Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel announced the extinguishing of an oil reservoir fire in the province of Matanzas, which broke out a few days ago and had disastrous consequences for the country’s energy sector.
“Sincere wishes from Matanzas, as we confirm that the fire in the industrial area has been extinguished,” TASS quoted him as saying.
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, expressed Russia’s full solidarity with Cuban friends in these difficult days for Cuba, and Russia also provided Cuba with technical and material assistance in extinguishing and eliminating the consequences of the fire.
As a result of the fire, one person died, more than 120 people received burns of varying severity.
