Credit Suisse freezes Russian assets for $19 billion

The SonntagsZeitung newspaper reported that the Swiss bank Credit Suisse had frozen more than $19 billion of Russian assets, with a third of Russian assets located in Switzerland and Russian assets there valued at $50 billion.

Earlier, the head of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabuelina, confirmed that Russia would work to liberalize its assets, wherever they are.

The head of the investment department of the Central Bank of Russia, Olga Shishlyankova, said that the volume of Russian private assets invested in foreign infrastructure is estimated at 5.7 trillion rubles.
