The largest Russian technology company Yandex announced today, Tuesday, the sale of part of its assets, news page and Zen platform, to the largest Russian social network VKontakte.
A statement released by Yandex today, Tuesday, says that an agreement has been reached with the VKontakte group, according to which the Novosti and Zen platforms will be sold.
The company added that the Yandex mobile app for Android will change its name to Yandex Start, and the iOS app will continue to work without the News and Zen platforms.
For its part, VK Group (VK) confirmed the agreement in a statement, adding that it should be completed by the end of 2023.
As part of the deal, VK Group must transfer to Yandex all shares of the Delivery Club food delivery service.
Commenting on the transaction, the president of Yandex.Food said that after the completion of the transaction, the delivery service will continue to work under its own brand, the application and website will remain, and Delivery Club and Yandex.Food will turn into a single technological platform.
