Club bans fans from ordering jerseys for players

Dutch media reported on Tuesday that Ajax Amsterdam banned fans from bringing banners to the Johan Cruyff Stadium urging players to receive shirts after matches.

The club informed the Ajax Supporters Association that it had noticed an increase in the number of these banners at matches, mostly for children.

The Dutch club said that the players can no longer fulfill all requests, and when players pass without turning in their shirt, they are often criticized and called arrogant.

Ajax added that the use of cardboard also carries a risk of fire. Several banners have already been confiscated last Saturday, when the stadium hosted the local Super Cup match between Ajax and PSV Eindhoven.

Ajax lost the Dutch Super Cup title to rivals Eindhoven 3-5 on Saturday at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam.
