Chinese president appears on state television amid speculation over reason for his absence (photo)

After rumors about his “political position” after several days of absence from public speeches, Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke to his people on state television on Tuesday, dispelling all speculation.

Chinese state media reported that Xi was spotted at an exhibition at the Beijing Exhibition Hall titled “Moving Forward into the New Era,” China’s New Era Achievement Exhibition, where Xi was accompanied by Premier Li Keqiang and other top leaders.

The visit is Xi’s first appearance on camera since his return from a regional summit in Uzbekistan over the weekend, as Xi was due to be quarantined for a week under China’s anti-coronavirus regulations.
