The Chinese Defense Minister noted that he specifically chose Russia for the first visit in order to emphasize the special nature and strategic importance of bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the talks with the President of Russia, the Minister of Defense of the People’s Republic of China emphasized that his country is ready to continue cooperation with Moscow for the sake of the prosperity of the whole world.

At the beginning of the meeting, Putin mentioned the recent visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Russia, talked about cooperation between the two countries, and at the end of the conversation asked Li Changfu to convey his best wishes to the Chinese President.
“I arrived in Russia after a visit to our country by our great friend, President of the People’s Republic of China Comrade Xi Jinping,” Putin said.
“I would like to emphasize once again that the visit was very productive. Of course, we also touched upon the interaction between the military departments,” the President of Russia added.
During a meeting with the minister, Putin said: “There is good development in all areas, including within the military department.”
Earlier in the day, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that President Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with China’s State Counsellor, Defense Minister Li Shangfu.
