Chargé d’Affaires of the UN mission in Libya reaffirms commitment to achieving a clear path to elections

The Acting Head of the United Nations Mission of Support in Libya, Rizdon Zninga, reaffirmed the commitment of the United Nations and its efforts to achieve a clear path to elections as a top priority.

This came during a meeting held by Zeninga on Sunday with the mayors of the municipalities of Zuwara, Misrata, Souq al-Juma, Tadjoura, Surman and Zintan, who represent the mayors of more than 130 municipalities in Libya, according to what the UN mission released. on his official Facebook page.

The mayors of the municipalities expressed the strong desire of the Libyan people to choose their leaders and institutions through elections, stressing the need to organize elections as soon as possible.

They also stressed the need to end transitional phases and interim governments, while expressing their hope for the stability of Libya so that it can enjoy good relations with its neighbors without outside interference.

At the end of the meeting, Zeninga expressed his readiness to hold other meetings with mayors elected by the direct vote of the Libyan people.
