Kushner: Relations between Trump and Netanyahu were very hostile

Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump, revealed in a soon-to-be-released memoir that relations between the latter and former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were very hostile.

In a book entitled “Destroying History: A White House Memoir” due for release on August 23, Kushner said Trump was considering supporting (Secretary of Defense) Benny Gantz in the 2019 Israeli general election, noting that “Netanyahu poured cold water over Trump’s (i.e. discouraged) proposal to move the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, a response that almost made Trump rethink the historic decision.

He reported that “the reason Biden considered supporting political rival Netanyahu in what would be unprecedented interference in Israel’s internal affairs is Israel’s plans to declare its sovereignty over large swaths of the West Bank.”

“I couldn’t believe it,” Kushner wrote. “Trump was still angry at Bibi’s (Trump’s nickname for Netanyahu) speech. In fact, he asked me if he should take the extraordinary step of supporting Netanyahu’s political rival Benny Gantz “. Kushner wrote, adding, “Trump later told me what he thought of Gantz and said I like the guy.”
