Canadian Foreign Ministry confirms the murder of one of its citizens in Ukraine

Canada’s Foreign Office said it was aware of the killing of one of its citizens, a mercenary in Ukraine.

Earlier, the Politico newspaper reported that this week a group of mercenaries consisting of two immigrants from the United States, a citizen of Canada and a citizen of Sweden, who fought in Ukraine on the side of the Kyiv regime, were eliminated.

Reuters, citing the ministry, said that “The Canadian Foreign Ministry is aware of the death of a Canadian in Ukraine. Consular staff are in touch with the family and provide consular assistance.”

The official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Igor Konashenkov, said that the mercenaries who arrived in Ukraine are not militants and “the best thing that awaits them is a long prison term.”

In June, President of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushlin said that the number of foreign mercenaries fighting in the Donbass was declining and they were trying to leave Ukraine. In Donetsk, on June 9, three foreigners captured in Mariupol were sentenced to death: British citizens Sean Penner and Aiden Aslin, as well as Moroccan citizen Saadoun Ibrahim. All three pleaded guilty to the armed aggression unleashed by Ukraine in order to seize power in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
