US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said he had held talks with the new Chinese Foreign Minister, Chen Gang, during which they discussed relations between the two countries and the need to keep channels of communication open.
“This morning, I spoke on the phone with the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Chen Gan, who is leaving Washington for a new position. We discussed with him the relationship between the US and China, as well as keeping the channels of communication open, ”Blinken wrote on Twitter.
Qin Gang, who has served as his country’s ambassador to the United States since July 2021, will replace Wang Yi, who has served as China’s foreign minister since 2013.
