The British Foreign Office has announced that it will stop importing liquefied natural gas from Russia from 1 January.

“The UK today suspended all imports of Russian LNG,” the Foreign Office said in a statement.

And the Handelsblatt newspaper wrote in early December, citing data that EU countries have significantly increased Russian LNG imports since the beginning of 2022.

The newspaper notes that as the EU tightens its oil embargo, LNG imports are reaching a new high, and EU countries, including the UK, have bought almost 21 percent more LNG from Russia than in 2021, and this figure continues to grow. .

And the Milliyet newspaper writes with reference to the statement of the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency Fatih Birol that the LNG market in 2023 is going through a difficult period due to the worsening energy crisis.
