Barcelona reach deal with Manchester United for De Jong

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo has reported that Barcelona have reached an agreement with Manchester United on the transfer fee of Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong to the Red Devils this summer.

The two clubs have agreed for a total deal of €85m in variables, so all that remains is to convince De Jong to move to Old Trafford.

The Spanish newspaper indicated that De Jong is grateful to Manchester United for the interest and understands that Barcelona want to sell him for economic reasons, but he is unhappy with Barça’s position.

She explained that the agreement between the two clubs was made yesterday, Monday, following a meeting between CEO Richard Arnold and John Murtoga, the club’s director of football, with Barcelona officials Matteo Alemani, Jordi Cruyff and Rafa Yusti at the Triton restaurant near Camp Nou.

The newspaper reported that yesterday after the meeting, Alemany went to Sports City, met with coach Xavi Hernandez and informed him of the agreement reached with Manchester United officials.
