Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad resumed work

The governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alikhanov, said that the Avtotor car plant had resumed work and concluded 3 agreements with Chinese companies and would produce from 1,500 to 2,000 cars by the end of the year.

Alikhanov explained on the air of the Russia 24 channel that the assembly of cars has already begun since last week, several hundred of them have been produced, and by the end of the year it is planned to produce from 50 to 100 thousand cars. 2023, and if new investors are found, the number could reach 220,000.

Earlier, Avtotor’s management also indicated that they intended to create their own foundries, produce the necessary sheets for car bodies and provide the necessary teams for this in order to refuse to import them from abroad.

And the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad was established in 1996, and cars of such brands as Kia, BMW and Hyundai were assembled there.

After Russia launched a special operation in Ukraine, Western countries imposed sanctions against Moscow that affected sectors of the economy and businessmen, and in this regard, a group of foreign companies, including automakers, announced the suspension of their business or exit from the Russian market.
