For those still using the macOS Big Sur operating system, Apple today published macOS Big Sur 11.7.4. The release of macOS Big Sur 11.7.4 follows that of macOS Big Sur 11.7.3, which debuted alongside macOS Ventura 13.2.
All qualified Macs can download the free macOS Big Sur 11.7.4 update from the Software Update section of System Settings.
The current version fixes a persistent problem with Safari icons. A problem that prohibited icons from showing up in the Safari Favorites area was added by the Big Sur 11.7.3 release. It wasn’t easy to tell which websites were in the Favorites section because the places where icons would typically be blank.
According to Apple’s security software page, important security fixes are also included in the update. The same fix for Safari Favorite icons is also included in an update from Apple for Safari 16.3.1.
