A security guard shot and killed an American soldier at a base in Rhineland-Palatinate in western Germany, wounding the latter with a bullet in the leg.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the incident began on Saturday night with a quarrel between two security officers and a US soldier after he attacked security at the main gate of a US military base.
Police in Baumholder and Trier reported that one of the guards shot a soldier in the thigh.
She added that the serviceman was immediately taken to the hospital, noting that his discharge from the hospital is expected today or tomorrow.
