airline employees "Ryanair" Belgium strikes on New Year’s Eve

Belgian broadcaster RTBF reported that Ryanair employees went on strike during the New Year holidays, causing many scheduled flights to be cancelled.

“Ryanair crews stationed in Belgium announce their intention to organize a strike on December 30 and 31, as well as on January 1, 7 and 8,” the message says.

According to the authorities, the damages are a protest against the company’s refusal to guarantee a minimum wage under Belgian employment systems.

Already 140 of the 355 flights that were supposed to take off from Charleroi airport were canceled in the first days of the strike.

Among the affected destinations are Helsinki, Toulouse, Agadir, Venice, Tenerife, Barcelona, Rabat, Alicante and Malaga.
