The Danish media have reported that the national team players will travel to the 2022 World Cup without their families as the Danish Federation wants to scale down its activities in Qatar to protest the country’s human rights violations.
“We don’t want to promote profit for Qatar. Therefore, we have reduced our tourism activities as much as possible,” Jakob Hoyer, director of communications for the Danish Football Association, told Extra Bladet.
He added: “In the previous (World Cup final), the players’ wives and girlfriends traveled with the federation’s leadership, but as I said, we canceled those trips (in this final).”
And local media reported last week that the Danish federation has reduced the number of trips to Qatar for members of its board, as each member can attend only one match, and no more than two members of the board of directors can attend each of the team’s matches.
And Hummel, the sporting sponsor of the Danish national team, decided last week to remove its logo from the official jersey during the Danish World Cup in Qatar in protest of the Gulf state’s human rights record.
On the other hand, tournament organizers disputed Hummel’s accusations and said they had a “strong and transparent dialogue” with the Danish Football Association.

Since receiving the honor of hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Qatar has faced many criticisms, especially regarding the rights of foreign workers.
In May, the president of the Norwegian Football Association, Liz Klavens, called the decision to choose Qatar as the host nation of the World Cup “unacceptable”.
Amnesty International sent Infantino (President of the International Football Association) an open letter, signed by other human rights organizations, asking for at least $440 million in compensation to migrant workers.
Notably, the draw for the final of the 22nd FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar placed Denmark in Group D, which also included teams from France, defending champions, Australia and Tunisia.
