According to Reports, Mortal Kombat 11 Generated a Profit of $500 Million

After digging around online, a sharp-eyed Twitter user came across a colossal claim on the LinkedIn profile of a former Global Brand Manager at Warner Bros. Entertainment. This claim was posted by the individual in question. It was mentioned on Matt Welsh’s page that Mortal Kombat 11 has made “over $500,000,000 in LTD profit,” and that figure was for the year 2022. Mortal Kombat 11 was referred to as a “top 5 title.”

It is estimated that about 15 million copies of Mortal Kombat 11 were sold, making it the game with the highest sales in the franchise, which began in 1992 and had a history that stretches back even further. Just a few short days after speculations of the imminent release of Mortal Kombat 12 first began to spread, this information – or allegation, if you prefer – has come to light.

Mortal Kombat 11 is more than just the game in the franchise that has sold the most copies so far. Despite this, it has surpassed virtually all of its contemporaries in the field. For example, it has been reported that Tekken 7, the most recent installment in the Tekken series, had sold 10 million copies as of December 2022. Since its first release in 2016, Street Fighter 5 had racked up 7 million copies sold by the time the month of February 2023 rolled around.

A person with the handle @bogorad222 claimed on Twitter that they had discovered the LinkedIn profile of a former Global Brand Manager at WB named Matt Welsh. Welsh had previously held this position. Welsh has held the position of Senior Marketing Manager at a tech firm since the year 2022; however, in the past, he held the following positions:

“Led the entire 360 product and marketing campaign strategies for Mortal Kombat 11, Kombat Pack 1 & 2, MK11: Aftermath, and MultiVersus,” it says in the description.

He next says that Mortal Kombat 11 made over $500,000,000 in limited-time profits, which is an astounding number for any game, much less one as ‘niche’ as a fighting game. MK11 maintained a high level of popularity throughout its lifespan thanks to the numerous cult crossovers woven into the game by its producers. These crossovers included characters such as Joker, Doomguy, Terminator, and Robocop.

Fans are waiting for any word on the upcoming installment in the Mortal Kombat franchise with bated breath. During the most recent earnings call, it was mentioned that MK11 would be released in 2023. However, there has yet to be any further news regarding this topic.
