40 Illegal Immigrants Arrested in Eastern Turkey

Turkish security authorities arrested 40 illegal immigrants in the eastern province of Elazig and handed them over to the regional immigration department.

On Thursday, local media reported that Elazig Security Department teams stopped a small truck while patrolling the road between Elazig and Bingol in the country’s east.

She explained that security services had detained 40 illegal immigrants aboard the truck and arrested the driver of the truck on charges of human smuggling.

She added that the migrants were handed over to the Department of Immigration in Elazig province.

And the European Migration Agency previously announced that European countries received the highest number of asylum applications in 2022 since 2016.
