For his part, Stoltenberg confirmed that the NATO countries will not discuss the issuance of a formal invitation to Ukraine to join the alliance during the summit in Vilnius, but will discuss steps that will bring Ukraine closer to joining the alliance.

The NATO Secretary General also pointed out that Ukraine’s entry into the alliance is impossible while the conflict continues on its territory.
