Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on the new Canadian sanctions, said she was not surprised that her name was included in the list announced by the Canadian Foreign Ministry.
Zakharova said she believed her name had been on the sanctions list for a long time.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the inclusion by the Canadian government today, Thursday, of 29 individuals and 15 Russian organizations in the sanctions list.
The Canadian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Ottawa decided to impose new sanctions against the backdrop of a Russian special operation in Ukraine.
Among the figures that Canada included in the sanctions list are Patriarch Kirill, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, as well as media representatives.
Canada also introduced a ban on the import of gold and silver and a number of related products from Russia.
