Some 240 military aircraft are taking part in a US-South Korean military exercise called “Waking the Storm” that begins on Monday, the Yonhap news agency reported.
The South Korean agency said the exercise is intended to send a “strong signal” to the Republic of North Korea, which is expected to conduct its seventh nuclear test.
At the same time, Yonhap acknowledges that a show of force by the US and South Korea could prompt North Korea to respond.
“It is also expected that this will be followed by a retaliatory demonstration of the military power of North Korea,” she added.
