Who is Vladimir Petkovic, the closest candidate for the post of head coach of the Egyptian national team?

beIN SPORTS correspondent in Egypt confirmed that the Egyptian Football Association will announce in the next few hours the new coach of the Pharaohs team, who will replace the article, Ihab Galal.

The new Egypt coach is expected to be Vladimir Petkovic, whose most notable training station was managing the Swiss national team.

Petkovic made it into the Egyptian federation’s diary after negotiations with Portuguese coach Paulo Sousa did not result in him taking charge of the Egyptian national team, so Petkovic was the closest to taking on the task.

Who is Petkovic?

Petkovic was born in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has 3 citizenships: Bosnian, Croat and Swiss.

At the age of 58, he began his coaching career with the Swiss side Bellinzona in 1997.

He coached more than one team in Switzerland then Lazio, Italy in 2012, worked with him for two years and led him to the Coppa Italia title in 2013.

Petkovic’s most notable training station was his leadership of the Swiss national team from 2014 to 2021, which led them to two World Cup qualifications and reached the round of 16 at the 2014 and 2018 World Cups.

French club Bordeaux was Petkovic’s last stop and left last season due to poor results.
