White House: Biden will meet with Mohammed bin Salman as part of talks with the leadership of Saudi Arabia

The White House has announced that President Joe Biden will hold talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his visit to Riyadh next week.

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters Thursday that Biden “will take part in a bilateral meeting with King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his leadership team, and the Crown Prince (Prince Mohammed bin Salman) is part of that team.”

This is the only meeting currently scheduled between Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Biden during his visit to Saudi Arabia next week, Kirby said.

Kirby noted that during the visit, Biden will also discuss “strengthening regional cooperation, especially in the field of air defense,” as well as participation in the Gulf Cooperation Council summit.

“We continue to work on integrated air defense structures and capabilities in this region due to concerns about Iran and its growing and growing ballistic missile capabilities, not to mention its continued support for terrorism throughout the region,” he added.
