Washington does not rule out a return to discussions "nuclear pentagram" About non-proliferation

Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Bonnie Jenkins pointed out that the “nuclear five-year plan” is not currently under discussion and that Washington does not rule out a return to these discussions in the future.

She said: “It is clear to the nuclear quintet (Russia, US, China, France and the UK) that no dialogue is taking place because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, so there is no movement on that path. But I hope that one day we can return to discussions if Russia acts in good faith.”

It is noteworthy that the countries of the “nuclear quintet” or “nuclear club” are five countries that acquired atomic weapons before January 1, 1967 and possess nuclear weapons declared under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

Five countries have permanent membership in the UN Security Council and veto power.
