US presidential adviser and his Turkish counterpart discussed the situation in Ukraine

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and his Turkish counterpart Ibrahim Kalin discussed the situation in Ukraine, support for Kyiv, and the process of Finland and Sweden joining NATO.

The U.S. national security adviser and Turkish presidential adviser discussed further support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, including Russia’s condemnation of the illegal annexation of Ukrainian territory, the White House said in a statement.

Sullivan expressed gratitude for Turkey’s efforts to improve the global food security situation by helping to facilitate the export of Ukrainian grain,” as well as for the diplomatic work that led to the release of “US citizens detained in Russia.”

They discussed regional security issues, including support for peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve any differences in the Eastern Mediterranean, and the progress of Finland and Sweden towards NATO membership.
