The US National Archives announced that last January the Justice Department seized at least 700 classified documents from former President Donald Trump’s home in Florida.
Released evidence suggests that the former president’s legal team spent months trying to prevent the FBI and the intelligence community from examining the documents to assess potential national security implications.
It also revealed that the materials included “the highest level of classification, including Special Access Program (SAP) material”.
“Access to the materials is necessary not only for the purposes of our ongoing criminal investigation, the executive branch must also assess the potential harm resulting from the apparent manner in which these materials are stored and transported and take any necessary action. “.
