US intelligence conceals reliable information about Prigozhin’s plans from allies

CNN reported that US intelligence gathered detailed and reliable information about the plans of the founder of the private military company Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, even before his rebellion, but did not disclose it to allies.

Sources told CNN that the information was shared with “only some of the allies”, including high-ranking British officials, but was not disclosed at the NATO level.

The sources added that the information was only shared with a limited number of officials within the United States itself, especially those in the US administration and the so-called “Gang of Eight” in Congress, who have access to sensitive intelligence information.

It is not known when Prigozhin will make his move, the sources said, but he appears to have made the decision after the Russian Defense Ministry announced on June 10 that military companies had until July 1 to conclude a contract with them.

And CNN quoted NATO officials as saying they expressed disappointment at the lack of information sharing by US intelligence.

Washington also did not tell Ukraine the information it had, fearing that it would be intercepted by “opponents.”
