Ukrainian revealed the reason for the withdrawal from the match against a player of Russian origin

Ukrainian Lesya Tsurenko refused to participate in the quarterfinal match of the Slovenian tennis championship in Portoroz against the 2022 Wimbledon champion Russian Elena Rybakina.

“I am very sorry, because due to an injury I was not able to play in the quarterfinal match in beautiful Portorož,” the WTA press service quotes the words of Lesia Tsurenko. “I hope to return next year,” the Ukrainian added.

Elena Rybakina, who was born in Moscow in 1999, is expected to face Romanian Anna Bogdan in the quarterfinals of the tournament, who beat Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia, who placed second, two sets to one, details as follows: (6-1) and (1-6) and (7-5) in the match held between them on Friday.
