Ukrainian Pilots Begin F-16 Fighter Training in the UK

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal and British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley discussed the formation of a “fighter alliance”, proposing to send a vanguard of Ukrainian pilots to the UK for training.

“Today we started talking about supporting Ukraine in the future,” Shmyhal said. According to the prime minister, he and Cleverly discussed support for weapons, the restoration of Ukraine and its integration into NATO.

He expressed gratitude to the British side “for their unwavering support, for their leadership in the formation of a fighter alliance and for their readiness to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters.” Shmygal added that on the battlefield, Ukrainian forces are being reorganized according to NATO standards.

Earlier, a spokesman for the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, said that the British government intends to provide operational military support to Ukraine and provide it with combat aircraft.

He added that Britain would become part of a “fighter alliance” along with European allies. It is important for Britain to provide Ukraine with the necessary military assistance “as soon as possible.”
