British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has vowed to crack down on Chinese companies such as social media giant TikTok.
“We absolutely need to crack down on these companies and we need to limit the technology exports that we ship,” Truss said Monday in her first direct debate with Rishi Sunak about the race to succeed Boris Johnson as president. Prime Minister of Great Britain authoritarian regimes.
Trass’s comments about TikTok, the popular video-sharing app owned by Chinese tech company ByteDance Ltd., are based on a debate between two challengers (Trass and Sunak) about how to deal with China, with the two politicians criticizing each other for their past approaches.
The couple have a six-week runoff to replace Johnson as leader of the Conservative Party, and therefore prime minister, with the result to be announced on September 5.
