Turkish Presidential Candidate Pledges to Repatriate Syrian and Afghan Refugees

Kemal Kilicdaroglu, a Turkish presidential candidate representing seven opposition parties, has pledged to return all Syrian and Afghan refugees to his country within two years if he wins the election.

Kılıçdaroğlu stressed that he intends to rule jointly with the two vice-presidents “reasonably and competently” without discrimination.

He said: “I give you my word that in two years at the most we will send all our Syrian and Afghan brothers from Turkey to their home countries.”

Kılıçdaroğlu previously said that if the opposition wins the upcoming elections, it will work to normalize relations with Syria.
