Turkish President Erdogan Calls on Elon Musk to Establish Tesla Production Plant in Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on the American billionaire, owner of Platform X and Tesla and SpaceX companies Elon Musk, to establish a seventh Tesla electric vehicle production plant in Turkey.

Meeting at the Turkish House

This happened during their meeting on Monday at the Turkish House in the US state of New York, which Erdogan is visiting to participate in the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

From the Turkish side, the meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacer.

Erdogan’s Briefing on Technology Advances

In a statement about the meeting, the President of the Department of Communications explained that Erdogan briefed Musk on Turkey’s advances in technology and told him about Turkey’s digital vision and national strategy in artificial intelligence.

Invitation to Technovest Festival

The statement added that Erdogan invited Musk to take part in the next local space technology festival Technovest in Izmir, and indicated the possibility of collaborating with SpaceX on steps to be taken within the Turkish space program.

Technofest Festival in Izmir

In the state of Izmir in western Turkey, the Technofest festival will be held from September 27 to October 1 next year.

Turkey’s Technological Achievements

The statement explained that Erdogan informed Musk that Turkey had become one of the most important countries producing advanced technologies and pointed to the successes Turkey had achieved in the field of marches.

Musk’s Desire to Work with Turkish Authorities

For his part, Musk expressed his desire to work with Turkish authorities to obtain the necessary license to provide Starlink satellite services in Turkey.

Turkey as a Potential Option for Tesla’s Plant

Musk noted that Turkey is one of the best options for creating Tesla’s seventh plant.

Gratitude for Invitation

He also expressed gratitude for President Erdogan’s invitation to take part in the Technovest festival.
