Transfer of Assets Confiscated from Russian Oligarchs to Ukraine

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken for the first time announced the transfer of “assets confiscated from Russian oligarchs” to Ukraine.

Supporting Ukrainian War Veterans

“For the first time, we are transferring to Ukraine assets confiscated from sanctioned Russian oligarchs, which will now be used to support Ukrainian war veterans,” Blinken said during a visit to Kiev on Wednesday.

Allocation for Reintegration and Recovery

According to a statement from the US State Department, an amount of $5.4 million will be allocated to reintegrate the Ukrainian military into society and help them recover.

Confiscation of Frozen Assets

Earlier, US authorities announced the confiscation of $5.4 million worth of frozen assets belonging to Russian businessman Konstantin Malofeev, who has been under sanctions since 2014.
