Train Carrying Hazardous Materials Plunges into River Following Bridge Collapse in the United States.

The collapse of a bridge across the Yellowstone River in Montana on Saturday sent several wagons loaded with hazardous materials into the river.

According to the Associated Press, at least eight cars fell into the river, leaking hazardous materials into the water.

According to the agency, local authorities decided to block the riverbed to prevent the contents of vehicles from falling into neighboring agricultural land. A Montana Rail Link spokesman said the train crew was unharmed.

This is reportedly not the first time a freight train has derailed in the US this year. On March 4, a major railroad accident occurred in Ohio when a Norfolk Southern train laden with chemicals derailed. A Manadian Pacific freight train carrying petroleum products for asphalt production also derailed in New York State on March 27, also leaking hazardous materials.
