The upcoming confrontation between Kate Middleton and Federer in a tennis match

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, has announced that she will play tennis with former world No. 1 Roger Federer in September 2022 during the Laver Cup in London.

Middleton and Federer will be spending the day in London to draw attention to two charities backed by the Duchess of Cambridge.

Following Middleton’s highly anticipated encounter with eight-time Wimbledon champion Federer, children aged 8 to 15 will have the opportunity to play tennis alongside Federer during the Laver Cup in London.

All proceeds from tickets to the Laver Cup open training day on September 22 will be shared between Action for Children and the LTA Foundation.

As a press release from Kensington Palace states: “Her Royal Highness is passionate about supporting grassroots tennis and encouraging young people of all backgrounds to take part in the sport.”

Kate has been taking tennis lessons for several years now.

Federer will be in the spotlight at the Laver Cup in September in London, a relatively new tennis tournament unlike any other on the regular tennis calendar, with players divided into “Team World” and “Team Europe”.

The European team this year is made up of the Big Three in men’s tennis, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Federer, as well as Andy Murray, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Kasper Ruud.

While the World Team is made up of American stars such as Taylor Fritz and Jack Sock, along with Argentinian Diego Schwartzman and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Federer’s involvement will mark a comeback to the sport after a long absence, especially after rumors spread about his departure.

Notably, this is not the first time Federer has been involved with the royal family, as Federer gave tennis lessons to Prince George, Middleton’s 9-year-old son, at Cambridge Palace.
