The Russian national athletics team refused to train in Kyrgyzstan

Acting coach of the Russian national athletics team, Irina Privalova, said that the national team had abandoned training camps in Kyrgyzstan in preparation for the new season.

“As for the athletes from the Endurance group, they are now training in Kislovodsk (a Russian city). The team no longer travels to training camps in Kyrgyzstan. Only, maybe, someone trains at their own expense, ”the Russian TASS reports. The news agency quotes Irina Privalova.

According to the Russian coach, the sports authorities have a policy according to which the money allocated for the training activities of the national team should be spent in Russia.

And the Olympic champion in the 400-meter hurdles Irina Privalova added: “We should use our training centers, and I think that’s the right thing to do.”

The International Association of Athletics Federations plans to restore the membership of its Russian counterpart in March 2023.

On November 30, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) extended the suspension of the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine.

The International Olympic Committee supported the sanctions imposed against Russian athletes last September and recommended that sports federations prevent Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international competitions.
