Results included:

  • Recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, the launch of a special military operation in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, the holding of referendums in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the liberated territories of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, and the subsequent annexation of these regions to the territory of Russia, events which will forever remain significant in Russian history… At the same time, these events marked the end of a 30-year period of Russia’s sincere attempt to build equal interaction with the “collective West”.
  • Russia and countries that agree with it have agreed to a political declaration supporting the inviolability of the UN Charter.
  • At the UN General Assembly, the vast majority of member states adopted the annual Russian resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism.
  • In January, at the initiative of Russia, a joint statement was adopted by the leaders of the five nuclear powers on preventing nuclear war and ending the arms race.
  • Cooperation within the framework of the organizations of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS is advancing with great strides.
  • The union with the Republic of Belarus continues to strengthen.
  • Within the framework of the CIS, a number of major initiatives have been implemented aimed at strengthening integration ties in all areas of the organization’s activities.
  • The CSTO mechanisms are working successfully.
  • Russian diplomacy has made great efforts to peacefully resolve international disputes, as it actively contributed to the stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan, contributed to a comprehensive approach to the Syrian dossier, including within the Astana format, contributed to the comprehensive normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
  • Contacts are successfully developing with a number of international partners interested in a constructive dialogue with Russia.
