The Pope urged the world to learn from history when there is a threat of nuclear war

Pope Francis urged the world to learn from history at a time when there is a danger of nuclear war due to the conflict in Ukraine, urging the world to choose the path of peace.

“We cannot forget the danger of nuclear war that threatened the world at that time,” the Pope said in his Sunday sermon in St. Peter’s Square, referring to the Second Vatican Council in the 1960s.

The 85-year-old pontiff added: “Why not learn from history? Even at that time there were serious conflicts and tensions, but the path of peace was chosen.”

U.S. President Joe Biden said on Thursday that humanity is facing the danger of “the end of the world” by warning that Russian President Vladimir Putin could use his nuclear arsenal, prompting widespread criticism from around the world, to the extent that he described him as unreasonable, ignorant and reckless, and even call for sending him to a nursing home.
