Putin’s Retention of New Russian Regions Would Humiliate the West

Retired British Colonel Richard Kemp confirmed in an article for The Telegraph that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s retention of new Russian regions would lead to the humiliation of the West.

“This would clearly be a disaster for Ukraine and a defeat for NATO,” Kemp wrote. “It would be a victory for Putin.”

Closing Ukraine’s Path to NATO

He noted that maintaining four new regions in Russia would forever close Ukraine’s path to NATO, and the “humiliated West” would be forced to resort to a damage control strategy.

Russian voters cast their votes in all regions of Russia in local elections, on the so-called single voting day.

This year, for the first time, four new regions that have joined Russia are participating in the elections: the Donetsk and Lugansk republics, the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
