Egyptian Minister of Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din announced work on the production of an Egyptian electric car that will compete with world cars in quality and price.
He explained that work will be carried out to transfer and localize the technology of this industry in Egypt, pointing out that the plan of the Ministry of Defense Production includes the need to keep pace with the growing global trend of electric transport and save the environment, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and thermal emissions. and that the Ministry has in this regard collaborated with a private sector company to produce the SETIBUS electric bus, as well as the conversion of diesel-fueled buses to run on gas, underscoring the Government of Egypt’s conviction of the need to involve the private sector in ongoing national projects and to expand opportunities for investors.
The Minister of State for Military Production explained that the main task of the Ministry of Military Production is to meet the needs of the Egyptian Armed Forces, while ensuring that the maximum benefit from the excess production capacity of its various companies, in order to meet the needs of citizens for various civilian products, as well as to promote the implementation of many development projects.
The Minister of Business of Egypt said during a meeting with the Minister of Military Production that the production of an electric vehicle in Egypt is a dream that we are striving to realize in the near future, and that this project is among the priorities of the Ministry of State Enterprise.
