The death toll from the earthquake in Turkey has risen to 6,234 dead and 37,011 injured.

According to Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay, the death toll from the massive earthquake in Turkey has risen to 6,234 dead and 37,011 injured.

Today, Wednesday, Oktay said the number of buildings completely collapsed as a result of the earthquake has reached 5,775 buildings, noting that all these figures are inconclusive statistics.

For its part, the Russian Emergencies Ministry announced the preparation of an additional group of rescuers to be sent to Turkey.

Meanwhile, the Turkish Official Gazette published the President’s decision declaring a state of emergency for a period of 3 months in ten states affected by the Kahramanmaras earthquake, which came into force.

A three-month state of emergency has been introduced in the states of Adana, Adi Yaman, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmarash, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye and Sanliurfa.

A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria early Monday, followed by a magnitude 7.6 earthquake several hours later with dozens of aftershocks, causing massive loss of life and property in the two countries.​​​​​
