Spanish star Alexia Botias, who won the Ballon d’Or and the Best Player of the Year award for 2021, has suffered a knee injury that could prevent her from taking part in the Women’s European Nations Cup.
The Spanish Football Federation’s official Twitter account states that “Alexia Botias sprained her left knee during practice on Tuesday.”
He added: “The medical examination will determine the extent of the injury and the duration of the absence.”
Alexia Botias, 28, had an exceptional season in which she won the Ballon d’Or award for the best player in the world, awarded by the renowned French magazine France Football, and the Best Player award in the world. International Football Association (FIFA).
The Barcelona captain topped the list of top scorers in the last Champions League season with 11 goals and scored 18 goals in the local league.
The Spanish star took part in 100 international matches for his country, in which he scored 27 goals.
Spain will start their campaign at Women’s Euro 2022, hosted by England next Friday against Finland, in a second group that also includes Denmark and Germany.
