Swiss Jan Sommer has become the new goalkeeper of the Italian club Inter, who moved from Bayern Munich to compensate for the departure of Cameroonian Andre Onan to Manchester United.

Inter, winners of last season’s Coppa Italia, did not specify the length of their contract with the 34-year-old Swiss goalkeeper, nor his cost, which the media estimated at six million euros.

Sommer, who played for Borussia Mönchengladbach from 2014 until January last year before joining Bayern Munich, said in a farewell post on Instagram: “I will never forget my experience at such a great club (Bayern Munich ‘).”

Sommer’s Move to Bayern Munich

Sommer joined Bayern Munich to replace absent Manuel Neuer, who suffered a serious right knee injury (lower fracture) during a ski trip in early December 2022.

Reason for Leaving Bayern Munich

Sommer was linked to the Bayern club by a contract expiring in 2025, but Neuer, who has not yet played in the preparatory matches for Bayern, will regain his place in the starting line-up, which prompted the Swiss goalkeeper to leave.
