South Korea’s meteorological agency announced on Saturday that a 4.1 magnitude earthquake has struck the central city of Gwasan.
According to the South Korean news agency Yonhap, this is the strongest earthquake to hit the Korean Peninsula this year and the 38th strongest earthquake in the history of the country.
The agency said the shock occurred at a depth of 12 km, 11 km northeast of Gwasan City, North Chungcheong Province, at 8:27:49 local time.
At first, meteorologists announced a shock of 4.3, but later corrected it to 4.1.
