Stoltenberg: The conflict in Ukraine may drag on, and Russia is planning a long-term war

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the conflict in Ukraine could continue for a long time, but “it will end at the negotiating table”, calling for increased military support for Kyiv.

“We must not underestimate Russia. She is planning a long war, and we must understand that President Vladimir Putin is ready to fight this war for a long time and launch new attacks,” Stoltenberg said.

He believed that the war in Ukraine “will end at the negotiating table”, but at the same time, any decision must guarantee “the victory of Ukraine as an independent and sovereign state.”

He added: “The fastest way to achieve this is to provide military support so that President Putin understands that he cannot win on the battlefield, and he must sit down and negotiate in good faith.”
