South Korean President advocates for enhanced security cooperation between Asia-Pacific and NATO

South Korean President Yoon Sok-yol emphasized the need to intensify security cooperation between the countries of the Asia-Pacific region and NATO.

“At a time when security in the Atlantic Ocean and security in the Indo-Pacific cannot be separated, it is more important than ever that there be close cooperation between the countries of the Indo-Pacific,” Yoon said during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg , such as South Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, as well as between NATO,” referring to the four countries invited to the summit as NATO partner countries.

In turn, Stoltenberg said: “We appreciate the partnership with you, because security is not a regional, but a global issue. What happens in the Indo-Pacific is important for Europe, and what happens in Europe is important for the Indian and Pacific region.”

Yesterday, Tuesday, South Korean President and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg adopted a program of cooperation in 11 areas, including the fight against terrorism, nuclear proliferation and cyber threats.

“I have come to lay the institutional foundation for cooperation by adopting the ITPP Partnership Program and consulting on cooperation with NATO in the field of military information and in the cyber sphere,” the Yonhap news agency quoted the president as saying.
